Easement Stewardship

Once a project has been completed, the land trust has an on-going responsibility to ensure that the conservation values of the property are sustained.  Once a year, staff and board members visit each property and meet with current landowners.  Prior to these visits, the stewardship coordinator will contact the landowners to set up a property visit.  After the annual visit, the stewardship coordinator will send the landowner a copy of the monitoring form, which notes any changes to the property.  The stewardship program also assists landowners with exercising rights provided for in the easement, such as putting up fences or building a home.  To learn more about the stewardship program, please contact the Stewardship Coordinator, Diana Cort, at 970-263-5443 or email her at diana (at) mesalandtrust (dot) org
